About me

IMG_0545.heic

I am a qualified counsellor and work with clients using Transactional Analysis as my main modality but I use a mixture of techniques and knowledge of other models to support individuals in the way they need, with the issues they face. This can include using techniques around mindfulness, visualisation and grounding if the client finds these useful to manage anxiety and promote self care, as well as discussing concepts used in psychology to bring understanding of their own and others' processes.

I work with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, issues of race and culture, relationship issues, work related stress and other presentations and diagnoses.

I work with adults, couples and young people in my consultation room in Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex as well as online, walk and talk and on the telephone.

I engage in regular professional supervision, continued professional development with my practice being fully covered through comprehensive insurance. I am an oral and written examiner for a local psychotherapy training institute

Time to reflect

I believe that not only does engaging in counselling give you the time and space to reflect on your life and what that means to you, it is also what goes on beyond the time we meet in your life outside the therapy room.  This means that whilst engaged in counselling, you may find yourself thinking more about your life experiences and how these impact your daily life. You may also begin to notice where you want to make changes and start to move towards that way of living your life. This self reflective process will often be what you bring to your session where we can learn about, understand and develop new ways of being. Having worked in education for many years, I have a drive that wants to make processing psychological distress accessible to everyone and find ways of making the process meaningful and safe. Whatever has led you to this place right now, choosing to be in counselling is a place where I can support you to discover what makes you, you. So, let's begin.
